This industrial metal seed display is all original and a VERY rare item from their company.
I feel the seed display was likely to have been manufactured for Le Paysan around 1941 when they merged together with Les Docks de l'Herboristerie to form "Société de Production Grainière". They still retained the name Le Paysan and increased their marketing around this time. This would be around the time they would have had the ability to produce these well made metal displays.
I discovered all the above information about Le Payson's history on this informative blog called: Painted Signs and Mosaics. You can read their blog post here on Le Paysan here: http://paintedsignsandmosaics.blogspot.com/2010/06/le-paysan-flower-and-vegetable-seeds.html
The seed packet display is made of mostly metal and the bottom is wood. Under each seed packet row are raised wording in French: " Les graines en sachets", "Pour Jardines", De Recoulter en semant". Hopefully I have everything spelled out correctly, I do not speak French, sorry!
Each row has 5 openings for seed packets. The display currently has vintage seed packets from the early 1980's. They are mostly faded, display comes with them all.
This display can be hung on the wall. It would be ideal in a garden shed, or perhaps as a merchandise display in a retail store. It easily holds standard sized postcards. You can also use it in the kitchen to hold small spice jars or to house small potted succulents.
Condition: There is a small dent in one of the row columns, this can be repaired or left alone. The bottom wood has paint ware. There are no holes or rotted metal of any kind. Seed display is in very good condition otherwise. Very lightweight.
Measures: 42" high, 18 1/2" across and 2 3/4" deep.
Display will be packed in a frame box, shipping may end up cheaper then estimated. We do refund shipping when there is a large difference.
