This handmade journal makes a dramatic statement with its bold color and exotic texture – it is red red red! It’s a perfect choice for preserving your thoughts and dreams in something that is sure to become a prized possession.

This hand bound book measures 5” x 4 ⅞” with a usable page size of 4 ¾” x 4 ¾”. There are 64 hand-torn pages (128 front and back). The book is part of a limited edition of ten and is signed by the artist (that’s me!). The book in this listing is number one.

This book has both a sophisticated and contemporary feel. The shiny embossed paper on the cover of this journal mimics the texture of snake patent leather (no animals were harmed in the making of this journal). The color red is rich in meaning and symbolizes love, power, energy, passion, desire, and strength. In China, India, and Vietnam the color is good luck and is often used in wedding dresses.

*** With your purchase, you will receive a gel pen in your choice of gold, silver, or white - perfect for writing on the fabulous colored pages! ***

Like the style but not the color? It comes in 2 other flavors:
- Black Licorice: http://www.etsy.com/listing/74086032/handmade-journal-black-licorice
- Key Lime: http://www.etsy.com/listing/74083093/handmade-journal-key-lime-monojournal

The binding used is an exposed-stitch binding called the Coptic stitch. This ancient Egyptian binding allows the pages to lay completely flat, which makes for ease of use. The red Irish waxed linen thread used in the binding adds to the drama of this book, which helps to create a binding that’s not only functional, but also attractive.

The vibrant paper used for the pages was manufactured by a sixth-generation, family-owned paper mill using hydroelectric energy. This 70 lb. text-weight paper has a nice, smooth surface that takes pen, pencil, and other media well.

This journal was handcrafted using traditional bookbinding techniques and is meant to last a lifetime. All of my books are made using only the finest acid-free and archival materials. Your story is waiting to be told and you deserve a book that will become a treasured heirloom.
