A rare vintage cookie jar or canister with lid in the Bob White pattern from Red Wing Potteries, produced between 1956 and 1967, when the company closed. This popular pattern of dinnerware has a speckled brown background with hand painted birds (bobwhite quail) and what looks like milkweed pods in brown and turquoise blue.

The cookie jar has two birds (mother and baby) on one side and is blank on the other. It has two handles and a knob on the lid. The Bob White dinnerware was marketed as hand painted, color fast, oven proof, and detergent proof. It was designed by Charles Murphy.

The cookie jar is unmarked. The jar is in very good condition, with no cracks and a few small flea bites on the inside rim. The lid has a chip and a crack that extends from the chip to around the knob. This flaw is only visible on one side, so this would still be nice on display or for use.

Size: 9 1/4 inches tall x 5 3/4 inch across the base (23.5 x 14.6 cm)

Note that I have more Bob White dinnerware to be listed soon. Follow this link to see more:
