8X10 water soluble oils on canvas
The first openly gay man to win an election in the United States. Harvey Milk was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. To quote a great TIME magazine article published in 2009, "There was a time when it was impossible for people--straight or gay--even to imagine a Harvey Milk...The new reality he embodied: That a gay person could live an honest life and succeed."
When I began to search for source images for this piece, I was inspired by his huge smile and vitality. This guy was living life on his terms, and it shows in the photographs.

If you're really into the spirit of the project, consider adding a Donation Challenge to your shopping cart. This is your chance to make me put up or shut up. By adding $25 to your purchase you can force me to donate $75 of my own cash to the charity you selected. That's right, they will get your $75 and my $75. That's $150 for a great cause.
I'm selling art and donating the proceeds to charities. I offer 100% transparency. After your purchase, I'll scan and forward you proof of my donation.
