Inspired by the markings of the Red-Spotted Purple butterfly (Limenitis arthemis). The subtle tones and texture in this mask were meticulously carved to imitate the texture and pattern of a butterfly's wing.
Carved from 8 oz leather and painted by hand. It has been sealed with varnish and signed on the back. It is held to the face with graceful dancer's ribbon. Because it is made from leather, it should conform to most sizes of faces due to its flexibility.
