The image in this poster is Hockney's stage design for the scene 'The Little Princess Coming Out of the Book of Fairytales'.
(Hockney created complete stage and costume designs for six operas for a 1983 international exhibition of his work. The three designs for Ravel's opera L'Enfant et Les Sortiléges that were purchased by Honolulu's Contemporary Museum are arguably the most striking of the six and are Hockney’s admitted favorites. Sounds like a must see if you're ever in Honolulu!)

About the Artist ...
World-renowned artist David Hockney was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in 1937. He knew he wanted to be an artist by the time he was ten and subsequently studied at Bradford College of Art and the Royal College of Art in London where he received a Gold Medal upon graduating in 1962.
Throughout the 1960’s, Hockney's art career grew exponentially. Absorbed in his work, he forged new ideas about seeing the world by intensely exploring a variety of forms. Working in almost every medium (painting, drawing, stage design, photography, and printmaking), he stretched the boundaries of all of them...from new ways of representing perspective and his use of brilliant colors, to his vivid multidimensional photo collages and fax art, computer printings and colored laser prints. By constantly questioning, seeking, and taking nothing for granted, he has opened new horizons on how we perceive the world and how art can alter our vision.
Hockney's been one of the most critically acclaimed artists of modern times, and the world's most prestigious galleries continue to celebrate his extraordinary work through solo exhibits each year. If you aren't familiar with his work, I suggest doing some research. He's truly a creative genius and visionary.
This print is in great condition with very light tanning on the three outside edges. The fourth and inside edge may be slightly ragged as it was separated from the book's binding. The edges can easily be hidden when framed by using a mat or possibly with a frame alone. (Please note: If the images looks skewed or the outside border looks uneven, it's only because I wasn't holding my camera perfectly straight and/or the image was not perfectly flat.)
