This awesome Japanese Doll and mask set is in EXCELLENT unplayed with condition. Probably from the late 50s or mid 60s this set includes a boy doll with one arm and leg raised supported on a wooden stand. It comes in the original wooden box which is in good condition, the box is cracking in a few places. 6 traditional dance masks are included and are all in great to excellent condition! Some of the masks (The Monkey/Saru mask has some crazing on the ears) also (The Okame mask has a cracked paint line along the black hairline and a small paint chip in the black painted hair.) (The Oni mask has one little paint line fracture by one of the horns) (The Kitsune mask is beginning to craze and crack with the little painted red circles by the ears, one of the red ear dots is peeling off.) The masks are very delicate and because of their age are in great condition!
NO broken pieces in this awesome set. The boy doll is in excellent condition no chipping or cracks! the white area just under his hair seems to be dyed a light blue? Not sure if this came from a mask that was on his a head for a long time or was there to begin with.
The backside of the wooden lid pictures all of the masks with their respective names and meanings, in English.
A gret piece for a Japanese doll collection!
