These laborers were hauling the lumber to a truck, which was then headed for the dump. I know this because I asked their boss if I could take the stuff instead, and he said 'yes, yes, you take, you take'. Anyway....
I spent a few hours hauling beams to my shop, then spent the next few days building the table/benches you see here. The table was made using 3" thick floor joists, it measures 72" long by 36" deep by 30" tall -- a big, old, heavy (100+ lbs) beast. The legs are recycled steel hairpins, they're sleek and light but unbearably strong.
I have loads of joists in my shop, this table has already been sold but I'd be happy to make new ones. Send a convo if you have a size/style in mind, I can also make these using sawhorse bases or straight legs.
Note: while the joists have been cleaned/sanded/finished with water-based polyurethane, the holes and nicks and scrapes remain.
NoteNote: delivery to NYC is free, I'll bring it to your house, carry it up the stairs and put it together.
NoteNoteNote: I can delivery anywhere on the East Coast, you pay the van rental fee and I'll drive it to Philly/Boston/wherever.
This item comes with a NYC transit map detailing where its various parts were found/salvaged, thanks for checking it out....
