I made this dress for the Ozark Couture: Nature as Muse Fashion Show. The dress is vibrant chartreuse green silk that I dyed, constructed with lace from vintage slips, corset back, and chiffon overskirt with nuno-felted roses. This would be a really lovely alternative wedding dress. You can also wear the overskirt separately over leggings, leotard- many possibilities.

Size: S

Bust: 33" -35"

Waist: 25" -26"

Hip: free (model's hip is 38")

Length: from waist, 24" long. Slightly below knee.

Fabric: pink silk taffeta, chartreuse habotai silk, gray silk chiffon.

Colors: chartreuse green, rose pink, ivory, smoke gray

Inspiration: Roses, gardens, romance, sunlight filtering through leaves, punk, lingerie, Christian Dior

Other Details: Very full, gathered skirt- almost 3 yards of silk (and 3 yards of chiffon in overskirt). Dress has side zipper as well as corset back. Overskirt has taffeta tie belt.

Care: The dress itself- hand wash in cool water, hang dry, press or steam if necessary. The overskirt is washable, but the taffeta waistband may look a little less crisp after washing. I recommend just washing the bottom of the skirt carefully, in cool water, or careful spot cleaning.

A quick explanation of nuno-felting:
Nuno Felting is a technique of felting wool onto fabric, creating interesting textures and designs. It's a labor intensive process. First the wool fibers are laid out on the fabric in the desired design, then the whole thing is wet down with soapy water, and then rolled and thrown around until the wool fibers actually get shocked into felting, and weaving themselves right into the surface of the fabric. Because wool shrinks when it felts, the fabric around the wool shrinks also, creating amazing gathered and puckered effects in the fabric. Silk chiffon is my favorite fabric to felt on- the combination of the delicate, sheer silk and the soft wool felt is really spectacular.
