This is a gorgeous old ring! It's from the Edwardian to Art Deco period and made in France.
It's finely crafted from 18K yellow gold and platinum and features some of the prettiest natural rubies I've seen for a while!
The face of the ring is approximately 10 mm in diameter and has a lovely 2.5 mm round, faceted bezel-set ruby at it's center. Radiating from the center ruby are eight more natural rubies...these being tiny 1 x 1 mm square cut stones - all natural and all set in yellow gold.
In between the "rays" of rubies are 4 lovely little tear shaped rays that are platinum topped and set with tiny little old cut natural diamond chips....they almost look like little diamond slices because they have very few facets.
The platinum and diamonds create a wonderful contrast to the rich, glowing pink-red color of the rubies! The color is really wonderful....a little more red than my photos portray. The rubies are very nice quality and the ring has lovely details like the little milgrain work on the platinum.
The band of the ring is 18K yellow gold and is still quite sturdy, though shows a little bit of thinning at the back of the shank, but just barely.
The Fench hallmark is on the back of the band in true French fashion, but is barely noticeable now.
The ring is a size 8 and could be resized, if desired. It weigh a total of 1.8 grams.
Overall, the ring is in very good vintage condition with only light wear to the stones (only seen under magnification) and gold. It's just beautiful and wonderful to see in original condition!
