In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note...
Like a specimen in a museum, two tiny wings pressed between three pieces of upcycled plexiglass; they are fettered together with tiny nuts and bolts and strung from a series of wire wrapped beads and delicate chain: metal, stone, glass, plastic. Included in the mix is labradorite, moonstone, aquamarine, tourmaline, rutilated quartz, 14k gold chain, 14k gold filled chain, and sterling silver chain.
The plexiglass is hand-cut, hand-sanded, and rescued from the scrap pile. The beads and chain are many things: grandmothers’ seed beads, broken necklaces, gems and minerals, flotsam and jetsam. Some of the most coveted hardware comes from the garages of estate sales. In a word, Found.
