This is a fiber-arts necklace, made of beads I hand-stitched from vintage hand-embroidered Bedouin material from the Sinai*.
Each element is securely knotted on both sides, and the 'collier' rests on the upper chest at the clavical. I've added two large wood beads in sienna brown, four acrylic beads, two vintage bakelite beads in mustard, a turquoise glass bead and an amber glass bead.
All pieces strung and knotted on black waxed cotton cord, with a beautiful hand-woven loop to close by. The closure bead is goat's horn from France**.
Stretched out, the necklace measures 18.5 inches (47-48 centimeters), and will fit almost every woman.
*This kind of fabric is rare (these pieces are embroidered on cotton, and date some fifty years) and is no longer made in this quality. All fiber has been carefully washed prior to making. All my beads are securely hand-stitched into their form.
**French goat's horn is naturally shed.
