Gilligan Shoes Information:
I made two pairs of shoes using the Gilligan Shoe pattern to help you envision all the creative possibilities of this pattern. You can make them really cute by adding a big bow (included in pattern), make a small lace bow, or leave the bow off completely for a sportier looking shoe. The blue polka dot shoes are made with a cotton canvas and the outer white strip that goes all the way around the bottom part of the shoe is also cotton canvas fabric. I used the cream colored waterproof soling material I sell here in my shop for the bottom sole. The other pair of Gilligan shoes are made with a striped canvas and the outer strip that I used is a thin leather. The upper part of the shoes are joined together using bias tape. You can buy bias tape at your local fabric store. For the striped shoes I just cut thin strips of thin leather to use in place of bias tape. I used the brown waterproof soling for the striped Gilligan shoes. I used a 1/4" foam insole to slip inside the shoe for added foot protection and comfort.
