I'm sure you have seen my garden globes made from the metal bands that go on a barrel and this is just an addition.
For certain wines (and certain cooperages) after they build the barrel and install the metal bands, they add these hoops made from willow branches. The reasoning is to prevent the wood eating bugs from eating the barrels (especially if the barrels are being stored for years). The bugs eat the much softer, sweeter wood and it slows them down in damaging the wine barrels and wine.
You can see on the picture of the wine barrels a regular barrel and one with the willow hoops.
I recently bought a few barrels that had these and after making myself some really awesome tomato cages, tried to think of another way to recycle them. Voila! A fun new art project.
Being willow, they are exceptionally light and strong. I ship them flat(ish) to save on shipping and all you have to do is fan them out again. I dont have very many so if you really want one, order soon as I never know exactly what barrels I am going to get.
Diameter - @24-28" depending on the rings as each one is slightly different.
I charge actual shipping only (and maybe a dollar for a box) and you will receive a separate invoice once it is boxed up, weighed and ready to be on its way.
These are fairly large but lightweight and if you would like a free shipping quote, just send me your zip code and I can usually get it to you same day.
If you have a favorite shipper or an existing account, I would be only too happy to use them. I always add extra goodies to the box as a thank you.
