“Silk Hana Flowers Kimono Series” Silk scarf is a long and skinny rock'n roll Silk Chiffon scarf, a perfect size and weight to dress up your fall fashion. Loop it once, or twice around your neck, let it drape and see what happens!
I painted the “Silk Hana Flowers Kimono Series” Silk scarf inspired by 900 years old Japanese Buddhist Temple and Kimono design. I picked pastel colors to express the delicate softness of Chiffon and the intricacy of the Heian Kimono Design without being too prominent. The unusual size of this scarf has a very modern attitude, I thought it will be a great juxtaposition to the century old Kimono Design.
I love painting on Chiffon because, the transparency of Chiffon adds a depth and intricacy to the design, creating a layer to the one of a kind design. I wanted to recreate the lightness and loveliness of the summer kimono in “Silk Hana Flowers Kimono Series” scarf. I painted Chiffon using French Silk Dye and steamed the scarf for a long time so the dye bonds with silk in molecular level.
“Silk Hana Flowers: Kimono Series” scarf is feminine with delicate soft colors. It's a perfect piece of accessory to dress up or down.
This scarf I created is a very only one on this planet. I never use guides and never create duplicates. I always paint by hand, and never use stencils. If I ever paint a same design again, it will never be the same look.
“Silk Hana Flowers: Kimono Series” Silk Chiffon Scarf: original size 11x90 (please note: the scarf has been pre-washed to take in dye, it has shrunk ever so slightly.)
I painted the “Chiffon Hana Flowers: Kimono Series” scarf with much care and devotion. My lovingly handmade painted scarves are not mass produced products, If the scarf has a slight imperfection, please remember to enjoy an artist's hand.
