This domestic hardwood bowl was handmade using a wood lathe and my own design. The bowl is made of myrtlewood. Myrtlewood is native to southern Oregon and the middle east. Of all the woods I have tuned, myrtlewood has the most color variation. It ranges from light blond to dark brown. Sometimes it has black streaks in it. I create the shape but Mother Nature creates the stunning color and grain of the wood so no two pieces are alike. Turning wood on a lathe to reveal what Mother Nature has created is like opening up a surprise package because you never know what an individual piece will look like!
This bowl will make a very thoughtful gift or an elegant addition to your home decor and it is sure to be a conversation piece at your next gathering. It is hand signed. 3 1/2" high x 9" dia.
