❀ Lace Motifs ❀
As with all of my designs, the lace motifs were created entirely by hand, using my signature lacemaking techniques and original patterns.
Mélisande is a medieval French name that is derived from the Greek word for "honey"--a perfect name for these warm, golden earrings. Intricately crocheted threads containing real gold--like those used in the rich embroideries of the Middle Ages--form three-dimensional lace motifs reminiscent of heraldic shields. The gracefully curving motifs are surmounted by stylized lace ivy leaves, while luminous AA grade ivory freshwater pearls glow from the centers of the designs. The pearls are surrounded by tiny lace petals, each embroidered with citrine stones in a deep amber color. Vintage rhinestones and 24k gold plated seed beads add subtle sparkle throughout the lace. The motifs swing from gold filled chains dotted with freshwater pearls, and are finished off with small handmade lace rosettes on the reverse.
The earrings fasten with dainty gold filled lever back ear wires, decorated with a fleur de lys pattern.
Opulent, richly textured and suprisingly lightweight, these earrings have wonderful movement when worn, catching the light with each turn of the head...

Real gold threads (2% layer of 24k gold over sheet of silver-plated alloy, wrapped around a fiber core)
