Delicate silk chiffon cut velvet is paired with the softest merino and tussah silk, then felted to merge the fibers and create a totally reversible wrap. Freshwater pearls have been stitched by hand, individually onto the wingtips to complete the dazzling combination.
Each side has its own distinct character creating a completely reversible accessory. "White Swan" has a high loft when wrapped loosely, very flattering. Wear it off the shoulders to reveal your swan neck, or drape as a long stole.
Velvet soft, without a hint of scratchiness, this scarf will caress even the most sensitive of skin. Try it for yourself with no risk: you may return for a refund if it doesn't feel like a dream come true!
Colors: wedding white (an antique off-white), with added swirls of pale champagne (the tussah silk fibers) on a soft white velvet.
Size: approximately 62" long x 10-11" wide, with artfully irregular felted edges and a hand stitched hem..
Free gift wrapping and shipping in the US and Canada.
Nuno felting creates a translucent fabric from hundreds of wisps of the softest wool roving, plus silk tussah fibers arranged on a base of cut silk/rayon velvet. The process of creating a new fabric from many layers involves rolling, throwing, rubbing and washing many times to coax the fibers to blend together into a completely new form. The whips of wool shrink more than the silk velvet, creating a tactile ruching (softly ruffled gathers) on the velvet, quite stunning.
"As the agitation of a grain of sand in an oyster creates a pearl,
so too the agitation of wool fibers into silk fabric creates nuno felt,
a beautifully textured, thin, lightweight, drapable fabric."
