The novel Extra Virgin by Annie Hawes, a discarded library book, has been rescued and given new life as a book safe with a romantic heart carved from its pages.
The first few pages of each of my hollow books are left to disguise the secrets that are hidden inside. What is left is then glued together using archival bookbinder's glue and then carved out to create the heart shape.
The silhouette reveals a page from the original novel. The cover is a denim blue with a golden yellow spine.
