This cake topper is made by combining cast clay parts. The process starts with the casting of the human couple. A white liquid clay is poured into a handmade plaster mold. Once firm, the clay couple is removed from the mold……… only to meet the unfortunate fate of decapitation. New heads are cast and attached. Details are recarved, and seam lines are cleaned up.
Toppers are fired twice in an electric kiln. After the initial bisque firing, toppers are dipped unto a clear glaze and fired again until they shine. The groom is 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) tall before the new head is attached. Animal ears or necks add about an inch. The base is oval in shape and is 3.25 inches (8cm) from left to right and 2.5 from back to front.
Signed at the bottom. The bags are packed and these guys are all ready to ship out.
BRIDE: deer
GROOM: deer
NOTES:
It is not unusual for the clear glaze to have some minor speckles. Look closely at photos, please.
