I made the first one of these on a whim about a year ago. I showed it off on Craftster and a bunch of people fell in love. I wound up making quite a few of them for members on that site. One of them dubbed it the "Pearl Swirl" and the name stuck. I kinda forgot about this piece until recently when I was thinking what to make. I remembered about my popular pendant and decided to make a new, updated version.
I started with silver wire that I curled into a spiral shape. Then I hand-hammered it flat. I took non-tarnish sterling silver plated wire and begun the process of weaving and wrapping a variety of colored glass pearls into the swirl pattern. There are 19 total beads in the piece. The colors include a raspberry, ivory, taupe, aqua blue, purple, white and steel grey-blue.
The pendant measures approximately 2" from the top of the bail to the bottom of the piece and about 1.75" across at it's widest point. Though for the example picture I did get it on the woven chain, the bail is a little more narrow then my normal tree bails because it's been hammered flat and would be best with a narrower or finer chain. (Chains available separately in my shop here: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PhoenixFireDesigns?section_id=7776955 )
It's a really unique piece. Very different and not something you'll see everyday. You will receive the exact one pictured. Depending on the response to this one, I'll decide if I want to make additional ones in the future, so if you like it, snag it.
*Please Note: As glass pearls are completely man-man, they are 100% vegetarian/vegan friendly and a great alternative for those who prefer cruelty-free jewelry options.
