It zips up the back and has adjustable shoulder straps that button to the inside of the back, princess seams with light boning running from the straps to the waist for support and smocked panels on the back at each side seam for a snug fit. The flap on the front conceals the built-in shorts which, in turn, conceal a smaller pair of built in bloomer style shorts with an elasticized leg.
The inside is lined with the same green cotton-y fabric as the shorts. (Except the smocked panels, which are unlined.)

Tag reads: Gabar
Washing instructions read: Hand wash in mild soap. Rinse in clear cool water only. Do not put in dryer. Do not wring or twist. Drip dry in shade. Do not iron. Avoid fingernail snags.
bust: 33 - 34"
waist: 28 - 30"
length: 28"
[Measurements are taken flat, then doubled - except for the length; for best fit, compare the measurements to a similar dress in your closet.]
This is marked a size 14. I generally wear a size 8 - 10 as far as dresses go and, sadly, this is a bit too snug for me. I'd estimate this to be between a small and medium; probably comparable to a modern size 6.

There's a faint black smudge on the right hip. (I was afraid to try and remove it but it may be removable, I'm not sure.)
There's also a small area, approx. 3/4" long, on the right side of the smocking on the back that has come "unsmocked." (I gather this would be a fairly easy fix for a seasoned home sewer or seamstress; I'd volunteer to fix it for you but I am neither of those and was afraid to try this as well ;)
Otherwise in great vintage condition; this will arrive washed and ready to wear.
