The lustre and sheen of the weft yarns show up dramatically against the dark warp; colours include purple, lilac, lavender-grey, light turquoise, grey-brown, fuchsia, burgundy, purple-blue, violet, dark red, plus more. The colours in the first three photos are more true to life. The fourth shot is just what it looked like on the loom, and the last photo is to give you an idea of the overall blanket, but the colours in that final picture just don't ring true on the computer screen.
I spindle-spun the weft yarn for from a beautiful luxury-fibre art batt by Etsy's Neauveau Fibers, which comprised "a blend of fine wools, various silks, dyed locks, mohair, merino, alpaca, and other luxurious fibers."
To finish the weft and complement the rich colour combinations of the batt, I hand-dyed Blue-Faced Leicester roving in purples, burgundies and blues and handspun it on my Ashford traditional wheel into a lustrous bulky single.
I chose Harrisville Highland yarn for the warp for its rich colours and top quality.
