You are viewing a wonderful old vest handmade in France from about the turn of the century. It has the wonderful colors of French blue and luscious pink encrusted with various gold and pearl beads. Metallic threading throughout in the 18th C style which in fact the torchon lace trim around the vest may be. Cotton and silk netted collar in pleats creating a ruffled effect. Beaded embroidery work is on both the front and back as shown in photos. The back photo looks like soiled spots but it is not. It is in excellent clean condition with no issues that I can locate. The hand embroidery work shows through on the inside of the vest. The colors are so Marie Antionette, I can just see this over a period corset or boustier. It is very small. Measurements are 14" across the back, armholes approx. 13" around, and front is approx. 7" on wide on each side with it open. Length is 15" from top of shoulder to bottom point on vest. This is lovely to hang in a boudoir or even have on a small dress form on a dresser. Wearable if you are that tiny. Really a lovely find.
