'Whirled in a Tree series - two
DESCRIPTION:
An original textile collage using my own hand dyed and surface designed fabric. Hand dyed cotton muslin with a tree design on linen has been machine stitched on black strathmore paper.
PROCESS and MATERIALS:
* An original design of a tiny tree with a moon has been screen printed on itajime resist dyed linen/rayon.
*Itajime is a shibori technique which creates patterns and motifs by using clamped blocks to resist the dye.
* Hand dyed cotton has been hand dyed in warm earth tones.
* Machine stitched lines run in freeform whirls in white and blue thread.
MEASUREMENTS:
4" by 6" art piece set on a black 7" by 7" mat - ready to pop into a frame. I place the artwork on top of the mat board to expose the beautiful natural edges of the fabric.
