I am very happy that I took a chance with a white background as it is the perfect backdrop for these colorful, patriotic birds. You can see through the white to discover all sorts of ephemera from dictionary pages, pages from a vintage french book and even images of playing cards.
As always, the trees are sculpted on the canvas and coated in layers of imitation silver leaf, aged and sealed for protection against the many fingers that are sure to touch these trees. The trunks wrap around the sides of the canvas. No framing necessary unless wanted.
The birds and leafs are made from left over scrap papers, ephemera and vintage sheet music.
