Parties were very special times on the Prairie--perhaps a house raising, a barn dance or a church social--these times were special occasion dress up times. Calico prints were just coming into vogue, ruffles were fun and dressy, lace and ribbons were saved for these special occasions. Most apparel was sewn by hand because sewing machines were very new. Bonnets were worn in the summer to ward off the sun and shawls or scarves were worn in the colder months for warmth. Niriah’s Prairie Dresses are made very simply so a young girl of today can quickly dress up and get to playing and pretending. We can add different accessories to the dress to change the look. Bonnets, pantaloons, aprons, shawls, sashes, vests, etc, -- are all available For playing and pretending --Niriah’s Costumes are fun.
