In the end, it was clear that making animal AND mask art was the way to go. And after deciding I wanted to make the art square, I decided to use a very cherub-like boy to wear each mask. He is your doughy, little friend who likes to dress up with certain animals depending on his mood.
Today, he is a Flat Faced Cat boy. It is clear that his mood is playful and cute.
PS:
Doesn't this cat look like Ron Swanson? I think he does.
The process involved making these pieces is extremely complex, but such fun. Ink drawings, printing, cut paper, antiquing, tinting and painting all come into play and I can say for sure that as I worked on this, I was not quite sure how it was going to turn out.
'CAT BOY' is an 11 by 11 inch print. It is a high quality laser reproduction on acid-free 80lb. cardstock. I have worked very hard to insure my prints are accurate to my original art. Prints are made from hi-res 600 DPI scans and the colors, contrasts and image density are all as truthful as can be. I am quite a stickler when printing.
Each print comes with a signed and customized piece of manuscript tablet paper which is mounted to the back of the piece with acid-free glue.
ALSO:
Because of the slightly over-sized nature of this print, it will be shipped in a stiff mailer for extra protection.
