Reclaimed Wood Frame // 8 x 10 // Douglas Fir from Leather Tannery

In 1863, the Muir and McDonald Company opened a leather tannery in Dallas, OR. The leather was treated with the traditional vegetable tanning process which took over 4 months to complete. It was then sold to strap and saddle makers around the country. The tannery operated for 144 years, even rebuilding in 1902 after a devastating fire. In 2007 when they closed their doors for good, the buildings and tanning vats were dismantled and salvaged. The wood used for this frame is Douglas Fir from 1902 when the tannery was rebuilt. We have taken great care to honor the history and beauty of this wood.

Frame is 8 x 10 and includes glass, acid-free backing, easel back, and sawtooth hangers. Arrives ready for you to install artwork and display horizontally or vertically on wall or tabletop.

Moulding is 7/8" wide and 1 1/2" deep. One of a kind. We have sanded the moulding super smooth and applied several coats of our natural oil finish to preserve and highlight the former life of the wood.

We include a card of authenticity that notes the wood species, age, source, and edition number.
