This uplifting and contemplative glass sculpture was made with a spirit of opening up to the vast mystery of our place in the cosmos.

I've always found that an image of the human figure is among the clearest and easiest images to relate to, and in a gesture or posture, vast subtleties are spoken. The body language of this piece is one of opening the heart and being receptive one's own truth. She is clear and at one with her luminous nature.

It is a sand cast piece. I first sculpted a clay figure, made a special sand mold of it, and ladled molten glass into that sand mold before cooling it slowly in an annealing kiln for 4 days. I then ground and polished multiple prism facets on around the base for a crystal like contrast to the organic form. It is a freestanding piece, and I think it looks best in a windowsill to refract the changing light.

This piece is 12 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide, by 2.5 inches deep.
