I have for you some gorgeous pieces of yesteryear. My mother used to spend her days making doilies when I was a child to decorate our home.Though these are not my mothers doilies, they are still, little vintage treasures.Being all white, I wanted to sazzy them up so, I hand -dyed the lot with some scrumptious pastel and bold colored dyes. They now have a new life for your next decorating or craft project.
This is a lovely hand crocheted oval doily. 9 pinwheels with outer scalloped edges. Made from cotton. In the shade of teal.

"A doily (or doilie) is an ornamental mat, originally the name of a fabric made by Doiley, a 17th-century London draper. Doily earlier meant "genteel, affordable woolens", evidently from the same source."
