Tree bowls are one of my signature pieces (at least for now). They can be subtle or striking in any room. Tuck this one away in a cozy space or display it in full view. It can be shy or confident, depending on what you do with it.
I occasionally fire outdoors in a raku kiln. In this fascinating process
rainbows of subtle color are created decorating the surface of each piece. These hues were formed during the approximately 30 minute cooling period after the glowing pot was lifted from the intense heat of the kiln. This vessel was allowed to smolder in a lidded, metal trash can filled with leaves and paper. Since the airflow was restricted, the glaze ingredients underwent chemical changes producing the splendid, varied hues.
This lovely, nontraditional piece stands about 8 inches high and is approximately 11 and 1/2 inches wide.
