Antique Glass Button Earrings-Peacock Noir

A simply magnificent pair of antique glass buttons. These dark black glass buttons feature a fanning peacock design. The lighter color of the design is the light reflecting off the surface. These buttons are completely black. I have brushed cleaned the buttons but they still have a bit of dust in the crevices, this allows for the design to be noticed better. If I were to wash the dust out they would be darker. I have set the button in a brass plated filigree. To the bottom of this I have added vintage glass teardrop beads. The earring and filigree measure 3/4" across. The total earring measures 2" from top to bottom.

Black was popularized in the Victorian age by Queen Victoria who wore black to signify morning for her late husband. Most glass buttons from this period are black.

What a perfect everyday earring that could also double for an evening out(looks great with that little black dress).
