The dragonflies are made using my own combination of origami (paper folding) and kirigami (paper cutting) - if you were to unfold the paper dragonflies, you would find a 5 cm square piece of origami paper with 2 slits in it. I used intricately patterned Yuzen origami paper to fold these dragonflies. They have a gorgeous geometric black and white geometric pattern on them that becomes almost a wacky zebra print on the folded dragonflies.
I used one of a kind vintage millefiori glass beads, which I bought at my favourite vintage store. I love using vintage, upcycled, eco-friendly materials in my jewelry.
The paper dragonflies are coated with 3 coats of glossy waterproof varnish spray for water resistance and durability. They are safe to wear out on a rainy day, but remember to take them off before you shower.
The earwires and findings used in these earrings are made from lead-free and nickel-free sterling silver plated antique brass. These earrings are shipped by default with fishhook style earwires. If you would prefer a different kind of earwire, please write me a note at checkout. Sterling silver filled earwires are available for an additional $5 charge.
Do you have unpierced ears? All my earrings can also be made with screw-on earwires, just ask me to swap the earwires for a screw-on style, for no additional charge. Some of my earrings even come with screw-on earwires by default, like these red dragonfly earrings:
