Welcome to Any Old Iron! Stay awhile and browse.
This birdhouse is constructed of aged White Pine Barn wood salvaged from a barn in Worcester, PA.. The red front and back, and cream sides warmly compliment each other and have a weathered patina that add to it's character.
The wonderful stamped tin roof was found in an overgrown forest dump in Leonardtown, MD. It retains most of the silver roof paint used to prevent rust after the factory finish wore off. This roof is from the Victorian period.
A fanciful cast iron hinge, with some white paint remaining, was modified to serve as a squirrel guard. I love these old hinges. They add such character to a piece. The perch is a very sharp hook of some nature, keenly rusted to the right patina.
If you don't have 50 years to allow your birdhouse to age properly, then you've come to the right place. These items have weathered all they are going to and are very stable. Instant antique or vintage look.
This is a fully functional birdhouse with easy clean out access. The wooden bottom simply tilts down after pulling the copper pin that holds it in place.
