Oil on Board
2009
This is one of a series of paintings I made from television images of Barack Obama's Inauguration as President of the United States. I really had no intention of painting Clinton. In fact, I wanted to paint Obama but felt this image said much more about our recent American history. Obama's inauguration, for me, was a genuine evolution and passing of power from a Clinton reign. It's no mistake that this portrait is unflattering. To me it conveys contrition. I'm also a big Bill Clinton fan, but hey, check out some of my self-portraits. Most are unflattering!
