After a date with my dye bath this lovely vintage slip is revamped and ready to be worn anywhere, and any way, you like.

It has a sexy shape, thin adjustable straps and bands of dainty ric-rac style trim accenting the bust and hem.

Part of the fun of dyeing anything is the surprise of how things turn out. (Like snowflakes - or people - no two are ever exactly alike.) In another example of an effect I couldn't have achieved if I'd tried, the body of this dyed up an inky shade of blue while the trim only took on the slightest tint.

It's not a true solid, meaning it has a couple darker and lighter spots which is just the nature of the process.

*****

100% nylon (exclusive of trim)

Machine wash cold w/ mild detergent, delicate cycle; tumble dry low.

bust: 38"
length: 39" (with straps fully extended)

[Measurements are taken flat, then doubled - except for the length; for best fit, compare the measurements to a similar piece in your closet.]

No size listed. In terms of this type of lingerie I usually base fit on a woman's bra size. I wear a size 36 bra and can't quite fill this out; I'd say it's best for a 38 - 40" bust. Slips like these are somewhat forgiving though and can still look fabulous worn a little loose or a little tight - it really depends on how you plan to style and wear it.

*****

The previous owner reinforced / repaired the seam along the top of the back of the slip (partially by machine, partially by hand), which normally wouldn't be the kind of thing anyone would notice but, because the thread they used didn't soak up any of the dye I used, the Frankenstein-esque line of white stitches is visible from the outside across the back. (See pic #3.) I don't think this really takes away from the slip's overall fabulousness but I did notice it so I wanted to point it out.

Otherwise in great vintage condition. This will arrive washed and ready to wear.

(PS: In case you're wondering about any "side effects" from wearing a hand-dyed slip around the house, or anywhere else - the pieces go through two fairly rigorous washings during the process which helps set the dye. To date I have never had any problems with bleeding or color transfer and I have two chairs covered in white fabric in my living room.)
