"Artist Proof" signifies the first prints pulled off of the press verifying that the block is printable. This print of the "Peony 1" series was hand pulled from a single, laser-etched woodblock. There are only four (4) artist proofs of the Peony 1 series. (Magenta, Sepia and Green, Yellow, and Pink and Green)
After the series was printed I decided to experiment with the artist proofs to see what I could do to create an unique image from a printed series. I tinted the image with liquid acrylic watercolor pigment to give it a more naturalistic look.
