We collected this driftwood from the Coquille River near Bandon, Oregon on the coast this winter. This is a wonderful piece of the fork between the trunk and branch with a saddle of dark brown inner bark between the two concentric circles exposed by the our bandsaw. The color of the wood is generally a patchy pale butter color, but this wood is more solid than typical of what we find, so it was a little more difficult to identify at first. The very heart of the concentric circles is a very soft circle of the oldest part of the tree and the lightest in color. This box will be a wonderful gift that says you care about the Earth and want to share her beauty. We finish all of our woodworking with Clapham's Beeswax Salad Bowl Finish and we NEVER use stains.
