So I have done a few guitars and wanted to try a violin. I was on the search for an old beat up one that may have ended up in a landfill otherwise. After many yard sales with no luck I answered an ad on Craigs List and ended up driving to Boston to get this and another violin. Let me tell you, THAT in itself was an adventure! This guy was a hoarder and a LOT strange and I couldn't wait to get out of there!After getting it home and staring at it for a while I decided to do this up in the brightest of colors with a design that echoed the curves of the violin. It is all glass in the form of stained glass, seed beads, mirror and milliefiori. Pictures NEVER do mosaic work justice so it's hard to really convey the magnificence of this piece unless you see it in person. I do have other photos if you would like to see them though. Oh and speaking of photos...after I shot the first photo on here I slipped on the rocks and broke my wrist!
So along with a beautiful musical art piece you will have a great story to go with it!
I worked on and off on it for about 2 years.( I would put it away for long stretches to concentrate on my belt buckles) The last photo shows a collage of some of the process.
I would love to see this go to a musical home rather than sitting in my studio that is why it is on sale. A special piece for you or that special someone in your life!
It measures approx 23 1/2" tall (approx 25" tall in stand) by 8 1/2" at it's widest point.
Includes stand.
The cost to ship this piece is whatever UPS charges to pack and ship. I've tried packing my own things and shipping and they give me a real hard time about reimbursing me if something happens to it en route. So for my larger artworks I will be using this poilcy.
