is made with a shiny, iridescent mother of pearl oval cabochon
framed by size 15 seed beads from Miyuki,
in shades of garnet, lavender and lilac, intricately woven.
A few 2 mm genuine peridot beads are being used for the fringe.
I also used two stunning lamp-work Glass Beads,
"Apple Green Lavender Ruffles"
made by an Etsy friend, Lea, from LAJewelryDesigns,
punctuated with lime green rhinestones.
The brooch measures 70 mm x 55 mm (approx. 2 3/4" x 2") and has a strong, good quality pin back. The back of the brooch is beautifully finished with leather and my initials IM. are stamped into the sterling silver palette that is applied to the back of the brooch.
*This piece has been created for the Etsy Beadweaver's July 2011 Challenge, "Sizzling Sunshine and Soothing Water". I imagined the reflection of beautiful flowers in a clear lake during the sunrise. It is a mirroring image. I tried to capture the double beauty, one half of my brooch is the real landscape, the other half is the reflection. The image in the last picture inspired my piece.
