Incredibly pretty vintage Indian silk shawl or dupatta. A substantial garment with enough fabric to wear a variety of ways; perfect for summer evenings and divine as a bridal garment. Constructed of lightweight, sheer yellow silk crepe de chine, but the abundance of embellishment to the piece lends it a wonderful weight and drape. The border is trimmed all the way round with metallic gold trim, tiny colored faux pearls, and sequins in poppy 60s colors: hot pink, mint green, sky blue, canary yellow. The body of the shawl is delicately embroidered and accented with glass seed beads and arcing lines of tiny gold, silver, and yellow sequins. There are also many groupings of flowers that have been constructed of pink and iridescent sequins. An incredible amount of hand-work to this piece! A stunning textile.
The shawl is approximately 32" wide and 80" long. It is in good condition overall, clean and lovely and ready to wear. It does have some small snags and several small holes in the silk throughout (convo me for pics), but nothing that threatens it structurally, and in my opinion these flaws aren't terribly noticeable due to the complexity and beauty of the piece.
