this piece is an homage to my chubby little goldfish that departed this life...i lost hours watching him show off his fancy fins, and it was these fins that I was so enamored with. this little fella was the impetus for my new infatuation with lace. he almost never made it into a painting, actually...I had done an illustration of him a year ago, and featured this drawing in my 2011 desk calendar...but then I had an urge to paint it, and everything fell into place.
