The hooded cape is made from your choice of beautifully soft eco velvet fabrics (see final picture), and lined with plain black 100% fairtrade and organic cotton. The capelet design features an elegant ruffle around the hem, and the hood is generously cut, designed to pull up and keep the ears cosy without squashing a hairstyle flat. The item fastens with a crown motif vintage metal button and secure fastening loop - so your capelet stays elegantly in place!
Care Instructions: Handwash or dry clean, unsuitable for heavy weather conditions.

Gaia Noir is UK-based and ships items internationally. But, Airmail does generate pollution and Co2. If you're located far from the UK, please consider whether you can buy an item locally instead – yes, it's unusual for an Etsy shop to mention this, but it's important for a sincere eco shop to be honest with its awesome customers (that's you :) ) about ALL aspects of eco shopping! To help reduce postal pollution, ask me about sending via Surface Mail instead (this is cheaper for you, and takes 2-5 weeks to Europe, 6 weeks to USA and up to 12 weeks for Australasia), or plan ahead to combine postage on several items you intend to buy instead of sending multiple packages. Items are securely sent in 100% recycled tinybox.com tissue wrapping and quality re-used or new packaging, with a recycled business card to keep/pass on to a friend. Unless another postal service is requested, UK items are sent via First Class (takes 1-3 WORKING days to arrive) and international ones via Airmail (takes 3-6 WORKING days to Europe and 5-8 for rest of world).

Gaia Noir cotton is always either Fairtrade foundation certified and produced to Soil Association Organic standards, OR certified 100% Organic and from a fairly-traded ethical co-operative (my two fabric suppliers have slightly different systems - please ask for exact info). These lovely fabrics are often individually dyed and hand woven, which gives an old fashioned feel and slight variations between batches. NOTE: the fabric choices are regularly updated, so some product images may show currently unavailable colours! We use organic and fairly-traded fabrics for common sense reasons: everybody deserves to be paid a proper wage for a hard day's work (and unfortunately, non-fairly-traded cotton workers, sometimes even still including child labourers, are frequently not paid enough to feed and clothe themselves for their 16+ hour workdays), and nobody deserves to have their home and health destroyed by toxic chemicals (non-organic cotton is grown with huge quantities of chemical pesticides, which sicken or even fatally poison the cotton field workers, and kill off animals and plants nearby).
