This latest creation from GypsythatIwas is a vibrantly-colored scarf, hand-crocheted with numerous one-of-a-kind novelty fibers, in shades of turquoise, lime, aqua, even a touch on lemon-y yellow and brown. The colors are bright and sing of vacation and cruisewear. This scarf is asymmetrical - the long edges are finished with two different yarns and stitches. One side is a bright turquoise boucle yarn with kiwi green flags - gives the impression of waving seaweed under the waves. And the other long side is finished with a green-aqua yarn with a metallic silver fiber running through it. I have used a wave stitch to mimic the effect of sunlight playing off undulating ocean waves.
Unfortunately, I used two different cameras to try and capture the rich colors of this scarf - and it gets washed out, no matter what I did. Suffice it to say - it is bolder and more satisfying than the colors you see in the photos here - more turquoise-green, than dingy blue.
With the small amount of silver metallic fiber here - this scarf has an understated dressy appearance, but you could throw it on with your favorite jeans - and still look stylish. I have added my signature "Wild Thing" fringe at each end for a flourish - so eye-catching, it's almost like jewelry. This stunning wrap measures 66" long, but wait - add to that the 8" fringe at both ends for a total length of 82". The width is 5".

The majority of the yarns used here were purchased from the Etsy shop recyleandrepurpose. Jean has a passion for rescuing mill ends and remainders, then twisting them together to make fabulous creations of fiber dreams!

I recommend you hand wash this accessory in cool water, mild detergent, roll it gently in a fluffy towel to absorb most of the moisture, and allow it to air dry. All of the yarns used for the creation of this accessory are synthetic - no animal fibers (no allergy worries!) here!
I believe that everyone should be able to accessorize and wear gorgeous items every day, and that those items should be affordable. I love bright colors, but also draw my inspiration from the beauty of nature. All of my handmade freeform crochet scarves, hats, and accessories are my original designs, no pattern used - therefore, most often, they won't/can't be duplicated. Each one is lovingly and carefully created with quality yarns and attention to detail- I consider them fiber art.
