It’s not unusual to be inspired by another artists use of color or form. It’s that inspiration that pushes us further, to do better, to learn more.
A smith on one of the forums I visit regularly used what she called ancient smithing techniques on a heart. I had to try those techniques for myself and the results were this forged copper heart. Not nearly as many bells and whistles as hers but oh I had fun making this one in copper and another one in brass!
Heart measures 1.25 inches tall (3 cm) and 1 inch wide (2.5 cm) and hangs on a 19.5 inch long leather cord including the hand forged copper clasp.
All metals are copper and has been given a light patina of reds and browns. Though with wear and over time it may further develop to an earthy and warm brown patina. Should you wish to keep the brighter color of the copper simply clean after each wear and treat it to a little lemon juice bath if needed, giving it a quick scrub with an old soft bristled toothbrush.
