Born to hunt for their dinner, they learn from mom. She teaches what they need to know for survival. Leopards are powerful, nocturnal animals. They can actually carry their prey up a tree. Cubs usually stay with their moms for two years. A long learning period.
I sculpt over a wire frame for stability and gentle posing. I hand dyed the wool in small batches for this sculpture. The under color of the leopard varies and so it does on this piece. The spots are placed one by one and the rosettes on their body make them as unique as our finger prints. Each has their own pattern. The whiskers are horse hair and stiff enough to hold their position.
This leopard measures 8 1/4 inches from the tip of his nose to the end of the hind quarters. He stands 4 inches at the shoulder and is 2 3/8 inches wide at the chest. This is truly a beautiful representation of a Leopard Cub.
I pay the shipping and insurance on this beautiful Leopard Cub.
