I dyed these fabrics with the hulls of fallen walnuts collected after a storm.
I felt like a treasure hunter as I filled my bag with loot!
The walnut shells were so full of rich color and they generously shared this with every piece of fabric that went into the dye bath. The resulting colors are soft, deep and vibrant.
Since these are hand dyed with natural materials, there are slight variations in the depth of shade in some of the pieces.I think this is interesting and charming, and illustrates the unique nature of plant dyed fabric.
The colors are even more beautiful than my pictures can show.
Each measures approximately 8"x12"
These fabrics can be used in quilts, art projects, doll making or any project that could use a touch of lovely, natural color.
I recommend hand washing in cool water with mild soap and line drying in the shade to preserve the delicate luster and color of the silk.
