This small woodland lake lies at the edge of my hometown, Mount Shasta in far northern California. The valley is a rich wetlands of marshes, headwaters of California’s great Sacramento River and an important stop on the Pacific Flyway for migrating geese and ducks The old watergate, installed in the 1930's, regulates the water level. I love the deep patina of rust on the historic pipes.
