If you are worried about the wellness of your wall, the lips will be happy to hold other small objects.
The lips are cast from an original carving, the frame from an original wood turning.
The lips are removable from the frame. They are quite flexible, and will hold small objects of your choosing. They also readily accept lipstick and can be pierced easily.
With the lips removed, the frame is mounted to the wall a with a single screw. The lips are held in place by a friction fit.
